Ten women spent last weekend together in a backwoods bnb rental with the most rusty well water ever. Why? We shared a desire for soul-level renewal, for laughter and light-hearted shenanigans, for a time to be fully honest about how we’re really doing. There was very little structure in order to make space for real connection and there was just the right amount of delicious foods to enjoy.
I’ve been on a lot of women’s retreats over the years. I’ve led worship and workshops, made crafts and sampled oils. What made Evergreen Church‘s women’s retreat different? Embracing our many varied expressions of what it means to be “feminine.” Freedom to engage or not, to choose your own adventure. Shared value of every stage of life. Desire for wholeness. Time for rest. Invitation for creativity and play.
Keeping company with these women one way we learn to live “freely and lightly” in the yoke Jesus designed to fit each us just right.*
